Job description

At Zero Motorcycles, we are pushing the boundaries of technology and design of electric mobility. The User Experience team at Zero is responsible for all of our rider and technician-facing software:

  • Mobile apps on iOS and Android.
  • Motorcycle dash experience.
  • Diagnostic tools used by technicians.
  • Cloud services like firmware update and analytics, which support all of the above.

We've barely scratched the surface in the space of delightful experiences we want to deliver to our riders. We are looking to add to our nimble team, an inquisitive teammate who relishes crafting simple solutions to complex user-facing problems. We're looking for someone self-driven who, in time and with guidance, would be thrilled to take ownership of the user interface development on all of the above software. If you think that person is you, we'd love to talk to you.

Job requirements

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver delightful experiences for riders, through our iOS / Android apps and motorcycle dash.
  • Prototype new directions for user interfaces we are building from ground-up, on our apps and dash.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on the team to prioritize features and team's efforts.
  • Support QA teams to help ship reliable software, on time.
  • Strive constantly to refine ideas by gathering feedback and insights from Firmware, Customer Support, Industrial Design and Marketing teams.
  • Present work to leadership and participate in discussions to define future initiatives.

You could hit the ground running if you:

  • Have invested 2 - 4 years building user interfaces for iOS or Android apps in teams that value design.
  • Are proficient in programming with either Swift or Kotlin, and are enthusiastic about learning the other, if needed.
  • Understand fundamentals of typography, color and layout.
  • Possess strong listening and synthesizing skills to dive into any problem space to understand users' needs.
  • Take pride in your diligent and meticulous work ethic.
  • Get curious when you get to the edge of your current abilities.
  • Most importantly, care deeply about problems you work on and the solutions you craft.

Other skills and interests that might help you stand out, but aren't necessary:

  • Familiarity with Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.
  • Familiarity with Figma and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Fascination for automobiles, especially motorcycles.

Once you join us, you can expect:

  • Creative latitude to explore different perspectives for solving problems and adding luster to your solutions.
  • Excellent mentoring to pursue clarity in a complex problem space brimming with variables and constraints.
  • Opportunities to lead truly cross-functional work across departments.
  • Responsibilities that push you to gather skills at an accelerated pace.
  • Teammates and management who care about your growth and well-being.

Please include these with your application:

  • Your resume. Although not necessary, we welcome you to use the resume as an avenue for demonstrating your eye for design and detail.
  • Links to iOS / Android apps that have your handprints all over them.

Salary range depending on experience and location: $120,000 - $135,000.
