Scope of Position:

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team and ensure the highest levels of quality and performance from our suppliers. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, quality engineering, customer experience, and manufacturing, to spearhead supplier quality assurance during product development, drive on-time PFMEA activities at suppliers, participate in design improvements related to DFM (design for manufacturing) based on supplier input, and lead timely resolution of supplier quality issues that arise. 

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Resolve supplier quality issues quickly, ensuring that containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action are performed with a high standard of quality.

• Lead technical reviews with suppliers during product development to ensure that design requirements are well understood prior to the development of part tooling.

• Collaborate with design engineers to drive design improvements based on supplier feedback regarding DFM.

• Assist cross-functional teams in problem solving activities impacting production.

• Conduct supplier audits to assess potential risks of quality escapes.

• Host regular meetings with suppliers to review performance with an aim to influence improvement where necessary.

• Employ statistical analysis to determine the cost of products that do not meet required standards and specifications.

• Manage the APQP process for assigned suppliers, ensuring timely submissions of deliverables.

• Create summaries and reports of supplier performance that are clear, concise, and easily digestible by top management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

• Proven experience in managing supplier quality, preferably within the automotive industry.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data sets.

• Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing processes such as, but not limited to, injection molding, welding, stamping, die casting, wire harness assembly, PCB assembly, etc.

• Strong understanding of core quality tools (APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, MSA).

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Passion for electric vehicles and sustainable transportation.
