We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Test Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a key role in ensuring the performance, safety, and quality of our electric motorcycles.

Summary of Position:

Zero Motorcycles’ Senior Electrical Test Engineer is an R&D role intended to serve as the primary testing technical contact for Zero Motorcycles Electrical Engineering functions, both internally and externally. The Senior Electrical Test Engineer will oversee and conduct comprehensive electrical testing of vehicle systems, subsystems, and components to ensure performance, reliability, and safety. This position will ensure that design validation requirements and test targets are fully understood and properly documented. This position will champion the creation of tests plans and design test setups for system and vehicle level tests by collaborating with the appropriate technical function(s) at Zero Motorcycles. This position will lead the execution of electrical tests and generate detailed test reports to communicate findings and recommendations. This position owns the prompt and full response to DVP&R through effective and efficient communication with the appropriate technical expert(s) at Zero Motorcycles. The Senior Electrical Test Engineer will report to the Manager of Prototype & Test Engineering and play a pivotal role in advancing Zero Motorcycles’ product development process.

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical lead and primary point of contact for all Electrical Systems Testing.

• Ensure Zero Motorcycles’ Electrical systems design validation plans are fully understood and properly documented.

• Champion creation of test plans and test setups by collaborating with the appropriate technical function(s) at Zero Motorcycles.

• Provide prompt and full response to technical questions, including regulatory, through effective and efficient communication with the appropriate technical and regulatory expert(s) at Zero Motorcycles.

• Collaborate with Zero Motorcycles Electrical Engineering ensuring development and DVP&R activities progress according to schedule.

• Collaborate directly with Zero Motorcycles Manager of Prototype & Test Engineering to lead test activities to a successful completion in compliance with Zero Motorcycles (and the customer’s) Product Development Methodology and associated processes/systems.

• Document and report testing progress, results, time to completion, and resource consumption.

Required Education/Experience:

• Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience

• A Mechanical Engineering degree with significant Electrical Engineering experience will be considered.

• Masters’ Degree preferred or 3 additional years of relevant experience.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as datasheets, drawings, schematics, and specifications.

• Demonstrated ability to plan & execute tests and clearly summarize/present results.

• Experience in leading technical activities.

• Experience and solid technical understanding of EV development and technologies.

• Experience in powertrain integration/adaptation a plus.

• Experience with data acquisition systems and test data analysis.

• Instrumentation experience (strain gauges, accelerometers, potentiometers, load cells, thermocouples, CAN bus, etc.) a big plus.

• Test fixture design a plus.

• Experience with product lifecycle management and product requirements software tools.

• Experience with an object-oriented coding language and scripting (Python, MATLAB, etc.) a plus.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

• Candidate must be able to sit for long periods of time to perform duties, and to move around and make inquiries from other staff, management as needed.

• Must be able to bend or stoop down to access files, including lifting of items or objects up to 50lbs.

Other Requirements (if applicable)

• Up to 25% domestic and/or international travel will be required.

• Licensed motorcycle rider – a big plus.


The salary range for this position is between $130K - $155K
