Job description

Zero Motorcycles is looking for an individual that has a very deep understanding of embedded electrical systems and test equipment design. This individual will work within a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to design manufacturing and testing equipment for the production of electric motorcycles. The EE role is for developing and continuously improving manufacturing processes on our battery and motorcycle production lines.

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write software for vehicle programming and configuration, as well as automated component and system level testing.
  • Optimize code for performance, stability and maintainability.
  • Participate in peer reviews and design reviews for firmware and testing.
  • Ensure projects are handed off to production for on time, fully qualified, quality manufacture on production schedule.
  • Create component or system-level timelines, tracks and reports on progress vs. established timeline.
  • Owns full documentation and revision control of assigned projects/parts/equipment.

Required Education/Experience:

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, Computer Sciences, or similar area 3-5 Years of professional engineering experience in related field
  • Firmware/scripting: Windows Programing in C .NET development tools, Python, Circuit design and analysis.
  • High Power switching/control, CANbus/CANopen protocols/diagnostics, Lithium-Ion battery fundamentals, PCB Layout, PLC experience (nice to have)
  • Must have experience with bug tracking systems, test tracking, code compliance, repository/version control systems and build systems. It is a plus if you have experience directly with JIRA, TestRail, GIT.
  • Mobility devices, EV systems, or battery-operated device experience preferred.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proficiency in the following languages: C/C++, Python, Windows Batch, SQL, LabView.
  • Digital and analog circuit design and analysis, Schematic capture, and PCB layout.
  • Highly self-disciplined with strong follow-through and closure competence. Plans to meet objectives. Employs monitoring processes and make appropriate adjustments as needed. Maintains high level of personal organization.
  • Processes oriented design and documentation ability is essential.
